Im really glad I stuck with my original idea now for the Luke harnesses, they look the nuts and match the overall finished colour scheme. Im waiting on loads of bits in the post which is annoying but its close to starting the engine. I did a great ebay deal today and have a modified ST170 inlet manifold with Suzuki GSXR throttle bodies on its way shortly! So the planned 150 bhp is now looking more like 175-180, yes thats 360 bhp per tonne!! Thats more than a 911 Turbo, happy days!!!! :-)

Seat Harnesses...
Thursday, 26 May 2011
Still waiting for parts............
The passenger seat is permanent fitted as I dont intend to have it adjustable. Passengers can make do with the fitting, you know the saying... add speed, add lightness.
I cut these access panels so if I need to get at the diff in years to come I dont have to dismantle too much....

Kicking my heels
Much has gone on today but nothing to take photos off, all electrical stuff out of sight. Im desperate to get the seats fitted but am waiting for the harnesses to arrive so they can be done first.
The original vent I bought looked too small and like it was a teenage/halfords after thought so...................... this bigger grown up version arrived today!!

Water and more
A nice stainless expansion tank to fit, I didnt like the GBS mounting point so am mounting it near the passenger bulkhead.
Because Im mounting stainless onto ali I made a neoprene gasket and siliconed it on both sides. Ali and staineless steel dont mix well and would eat each other!
Another little bit of dressing up while I wait for other bits to be delivered. A nice little touch for the water filler cap. For those who doubt this, I am not trying to badge my car Lotus but have been a fan of the seven since I was about the age of 7. Its being built in that spirit and to the legend of Colin Chapman so there will be a few subtle hints to its heritage.....

Turn around after Dettling
Dettling show was smaller than Stoneleigh buts picked up a few bits (cheers Tony) and had some questions answered. I had to get the car on the floor and turned round to make this weeks work easier to do. The car is so low when its on the ground I cant wait to climb in and start it. I also took the opportunity to temporarily fit the nose and bonnet again............ Things are moving on!!

Scuttle
WELL! The scuttle's on and although I have to admit over the weeks Ive trial fitted it a few times... todays work was awesome. Its on and it fits a treat and its square, parralel, perpendicular and any other geometrical comment you could come up with (my expert forming with the former I made probably helped! lol).
BIG smiles today, a happy chappy!!

Loom update
The looms going well considering its the job Ive been most scared of. You just have to break each light, terminal, earth and switch into individual jobs. That said I dont know if Im up for tackling the engine loom and may get a mate of mine who's a pro auto-electrician to team up with me for a few beer tokens!
Hats off once again to Alan from Premier Wiring Solutions for his product and never ending help and patience on the phone.....
Detling show this weekend with a ton more questions and a wallet that has been warned!!

Looms arrival
I hope I dont have to remove/refit the diff again but I now have a 3.62 diff in and will store the 3.92 for the time being!
The loom arrived from premier wiring solutions. Looks quite daunting and I m sure it will present its challenges but I have to take my hat off to Alan for the quality, price and help he gives.

Fuel pump positioning
Ive spent ages looking at the positioning for the pump and trying to source a decent bracket, I got bored so made my own. Its insulated with rubber with a spare bike inner tube. A tidy job I reckon!
Fabrications
Picked up the water rail at stoneleigh looks very nice!
My mate Barry is a pro carpet fitter and he popped round and made an amazing job of fitting it all.

Stoneleigh inspiration!
My first trip to Stoneleigh and I wasnt dissapointed, thousands of Sevens and lots of different styles.
From a personal point of view the highlight for me was the one true Colin Chapman car, totally original and unrestored and still on the road. It was brrrilliant, big thanks to Nick (aka Shaft) for the tank.
The legend begins!............ The real deal original unrestored and still cutting the mustard!
Luke harnesses in the original 7 had seen better days but has helped me make my mind up what make of belts to buy...
PS: incase youre wondering, yes Im a few quid lighter after this trip lol
