Im off to Stoneleigh this weekend to pick up quite afew parts from the show so have been held up today so decided to trial fit the nose, lights and fitted a bespoke 7 badge. Little things like this help to give you a view of the end product.

Cool cooling

I got the rad and fan from GBS, chose to go without the filler cap and will fit the raceline water rail instead. You do need to fabricate your own brackets for mounting the fan, easily done with some sheet ali and a jigsaw

I took the shot below for anyone about to do this yourself, it takes a bit of thought before you can work out the correct plumbing of the lower pipe to the water pump. (Please ignore current position of the brake pipe as its not in its final position obviously)

Engine mounts and GBS quick shift

well the engine may have gone in easily but the engine mounts are another story but all done now

A definite point where GBS could give a 1 page explanation of fitting something is the quickshift, take this bracket off whilst out of the car will save you half a day if you try to do it when in the car....

Engine in!

Very surpised and impressed at how easily this all came together today after an awful week at work, theres nothing technical to report here. Roll on the looms arrival !

Landmark today!

What a day! I deliberated a whil about fitting the engine while the chassis was still on the dolly but the longer I thought about it the more I realised it would have meant more dramas later. If you want adrenaline then try hanging your car 4ft above the floor on one chassis point on an engine hoist!

Scholar Sump completed

Well as well as the forums Scholar also called to explain that the remedy for the oil pick up pipe is quite simple on the later engines. Fix the two bolts to the oil pump and then gently and gradually bend it round until it lines up with the windage plate bolt. Yes it feels wrong when youre doing it but its absolutely fine. The sump is now in place.

Ive fiited the modded westfield thrust bearing and a new Zetec clutch, everything is now connected and I fabricated two blanking plates on the exposed flywheel, GBS say they leave it exposed but it doesnt feel right to me. I used some sheet aluminium and jigsaw. Job done!!

Other progress

Front brakes are now all fitted, an easy job with no real explanation needed

Pick up pipe for the Scolar sump

To be fair to Scholar they did tell me on the phone that dependant on the age of your zetec Ford changed the angle of the oil pump pick up. These photos show the pick up bolted to one of the oil pump brackets and the bolt on the windage tray. Just waiting for faithful friends on the forums to get back to me to tell me how you sort this.....

Scholar shortened Zetec sump

After much searching for answers to these questions on fitting a scholar sump I decided to document as much as possible with both photos and words. The install isnt finished but if any one needs any questions answering then please feel free to contact me. Trust me....... the oil pick up does NOT simply bolt in place!
New bolts inserted into the main bearing with the spacers
 Windage plate in place

Nearly 2 weeks off!

After a couple of weeks of social events it was nice to get a bit more done, although nothing too major!
